Áine Ní Mhurchú

Physiotherapist

Ainhe Ni Mhurchu is a former pupil of Just Maths.ie in Dublin. She has graduated and is now a tutor.

Áine came back as a maths tutor during her university course. Read what she has to say about her experience:

"I attended JustMaths grinds school throughout 5th and 6th year as I was determined to get great marks in higher level maths. I particularly benefited from the small tutorial groups for learning complex topics, as this made it easy to really understand the concepts and run through sample questions with tutors and peers. Dermot's classes and tutorials were imperative to me achieving Honours in Leaving Cert. Higher Level Maths. I went on to study Physiotherapy in RCSI and was delighted to be invited back to join the JustMaths team as a tutor.

I worked with Dermot and his amazing tutors for 4 years throughout my degree and I loved being able to work with students at all levels of secondary school study, helping them to achieve their best potential. As a tutor, I loved seeing my students' confidence grow as they developed their knowledge and skill with JustMaths."

Catherine Lyons

Engineer

Catherine Lyons is a former pupil of Just Maths.ie in Dublin. He has graduated in Law.

Catherine is a former JustMaths student who graduated university with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She is also a former Team GB gymnast. Read what Catherine has to say about her time with us:

"I was taught by a handful of the tutors at JustMaths. I found the environment was much more supportive and more engaging than the typical ‘school class room’. The tutors were always so helpful and encouraging and pushed my math skill further than I thought it could go. After finishing my degree in engineering, I helped out as a Tutor for 2 weeks and loved every second of it."

Joshua Kiernan

Lawyer

Joshua Kiernan is a former pupil of Just Maths.ie in Dublin. He has graduated in Law.

Joshua also came back to tutor with us during his undergraduate year at UCD. After he graduated he completed a Masters at Harvard Law School. Read what Joshua has to say about his journey:

"I attended JustMaths as a student from 2nd year until I sat the Leaving Cert. in 2015. I found it difficult to get my head around the key concepts in a large class setting, and benefited hugely from smaller group sessions, led by Dermot and his tutors. Rather than engaging in a broad survey of the curriculum, my sessions at JustMaths focused on the most important topics that arose most frequently on the paper, ensuring that I was as well prepared as possible for both the junior and leaving cert exams. Dermot and his team were alert to areas where I was having difficulty and were able to direct my studies accordingly.

After the Leaving Cert., I studied Law at UCD and recently completed a Master’s degree at Harvard Law School. I worked as a tutor with JustMaths throughout my undergraduate degree. This was a hugely formative experience, and the communication and organisational skills I developed while working for Dermot continue to stand to me today. I thoroughly enjoyed working with groups of students in a similar position to that in which I had been before coming to JustMaths, and helping them to do as well as possible in their exams. I’d heartily recommend Dermot and his JustMaths team to any student finding themselves in any difficulty in advance of Maths exams. "

Sinead O'Callaghan

Engineer

Sinead O'Callaghan is a former pupil of Just Maths.ie in Dublin. She has graduated as an engineer.

Sinead also came back to tutor with us during her degree course. Read what she has to say about how she benefited from her time at JustMaths:

"I attended JustMaths grinds school in 6th year of Secondary School. Maths was always my favorite subject in school so I wanted to achieve the best grade possible in my Leaving Certificate. I found that working in small groups with my peers and tutors, made it much easier for me to excel. As a result I received a high grade in math. I realised that JustMaths did much more than help me to achieve that high grade. Dermot and the amazing tutors encouraged me to apply for an engineering course, They gave me so much more confidence in my abilities and I went on to study a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Mechanical Engineering at UCD.

Throughout my degree course I also worked as a tutor at JustMaths, helping students develop their knowledge and skills in maths at all levels of Secondary School. I particularly enjoyed working with the Leaving Certificate classes as I loved watching their confidence grow as they achieved their potential and looked to the future with a more open and positive mindset.

Currently, I am working for PM Group, an international project delivery firm, which manage the design construction and commissioning of high-tech facilities. I am based at a newly developed site of an American multinational pharmaceutical company working as a commissioning and qualification engineer - which I am thoroughly enjoying. When this project is complete life changing immuno-oncology drugs will be manufactured on this site. It is safe to say that I would not be where I am today without Dermot and JustMaths Grinds School."
